January - What is going on?

January, especially across the UK, has been filled with torrential rain, storms, flooding and snow. Glasgow has been lucky to avoid most of this awful weather.

The Royal Hotel is in Bridge of Allan, Stirling. This is an award winning luxury Scottish wedding venue and conference centre which is near Stirling's city centre and has great shopping links. Just down the road is The Royal Ivy is a beautiful boutique wedding venue. This lovely hotel sits beneath the Wallace Monument and provides a great venue for social events too.

If you are looking to get out of the busy city and explore the countryside then Burnhouse Manor Hotel in Ayrshire is perfect. This quaint country side manor is a friendly, family-owned, romantic country hotel nestled in a beautiful part of the country.

If you are visiting Glasgow in the near future rest assured the city provides a fantastic variety of department stores and shops to visit. The city is among the highest rated shopping districts in the United Kingdom, second in line to London’s West End. You can find every fashion style, from mainstream to unique designer flagship stores located within a short walk of Buchanan Street.

Eating out?

Why not wine and dine your loved one at The Gannet, a beautiful new restaurant on Argyle Street offering a relaxed atmosphere and ambitious Scottish cooking. The concentration on Scottish products is definitely something tourists and alike will appreciate. Their attentive staff offers a lovely seafood menu too. There is even real effort put into their vegetarian dishes.

In addition to eating out and shopping Glasgow also boasts some fantastic Art Galleries. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a fantastic place to visit if you are looking to spend a fun filled day out with the family. This is great for the younger generation as allows children to engage with interactive material, keeping them interested while learning. This building originally opened in the early 1900s. Recently we have seen a massive refurbishment and restoration completed. This is free for all which makes the proposition that little bit more attractive. If you are interested in art then The Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow City Centre hosts work by local, national and international artists.

Situated next to Kelvingrove Art Gallery is Kelvingrove Park. This is a classic Victorian park by the River Kelvin which has various sporting facilities which you and the family may want to make use of. This includes tennis courts, basketball courts and bowls.

Crowwood Hotel is situated close to Glasgow City Centre which provides the opportunity to visit attractions such as The Hydro and exciting new restaurants just opened in Finneston.

Why not treat yourself to some delicious food at their restaurant this January after visiting some of Glasgow's best attractions?
